A student from a high school in Budaörs got into Harvard

A graduating student from a high school in Budaörs will start the 2023 academic year at Harvard University. Ferenc Kovács spent the last school year in the state of Virginia, where he studied on a scholarship and achieved several athletic successes in addition to his studies.
The graduate student of the Gyula Illyés High School and Technikum in Budaörs was admitted to the American private university Harvard. The institution announced the news on Facebook.

Ferenc Kovács, a 12th-grade student, will start the academic year at one of the most famous universities in the United States in September. According to the post, Harvard informed the boy that his application was successful before the official application deadline.

The student spent the last school year in the state of Virginia, where he studied on a scholarship and achieved several athletic successes in addition to his studies. He broke all high school distance records in the 800-5,000 meters and was named Virginia’s state runner and middle distance runner of the year.

Two weeks after his return home, he ran a new national U20 record in an adult race at 1,500 meters. His coach and physical education teacher at Illyés was teacher Gyula Egri. In addition, Ferenc recently wrote an advanced-level English baccalaureate and is preparing for the 12th-year baccalaureate exams.
